Guide to Enabling Voice Chat
Proximity Voice Chat on our server works for PC players only.
Proximity Voice Chat on Our Server (Java Edition)
We use the Simple Voice Chat mod to add real, positional voice to Minecraft. When you speak, only players near you in-game hear you, and the volume fades with distance. It’s optional, but it massively improves immersion. To use it, install a supported mod loader such as Fabric, NeoForge, Forge, or Quilt, then add the Simple Voice Chat mod matching the exact Minecraft version and loader you launch.
Choose the Right Mod Loader
If you already play modpacks, you may already use NeoForge, Forge, Fabric, or Quilt. The important part is that your loader, Minecraft profile, and voice-chat mod target the same game version.
Installing the Loader
Run the official installer for your chosen loader, select Client, choose your Minecraft version, and install. Launch that profile once so the mods folder is created. Custom launchers such as Prism or ATLauncher can create a dedicated instance with a chosen loader and version.
- Windows:
%appdata%\.minecraft\mods - macOS:
~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/mods - Linux:
~/.minecraft/mods
Add Simple Voice Chat
Download the version that matches your loader and game version, place the JAR in the mods folder, and restart Minecraft with that loader profile.
Configure Your Mic In-Game
Join the server and open the Voice Chat settings from your controls/keybinds. Select input and output devices, run the mic test, and choose Push-to-Talk or Voice Activation.
Quick setup
- Set Input to your microphone and Output to your headphones/speakers.
- Use Mic Test and adjust levels so speech is clear without clipping.
- Choose Push-to-Talk or Voice Activation and configure the key/sensitivity.
- Confirm the mic indicator responds when you speak.
Troubleshooting
- Version mismatch: loader, Minecraft version, and mod version must match.
- Missing helper mod: Fabric setups may require Fabric API; follow the loader error message.
- Mic permissions: make sure the OS allows Java/Minecraft microphone access.
- Exclusive mode/device conflicts: close apps that take exclusive audio control and reselect devices afterward.
- Wrong keybind or muted: verify the PTT key and voice UI mute state.
Bedrock Players
Simple Voice Chat is a Java-side mod. Bedrock clients cannot load it, so use Secure Sector’s Discord voice channels for events and team play.
